Our Providers

We currently have two physicians and four physician assistants working full or part-time at Aurora Family Medicine Center.  All patients are assigned primarily to one physician, though they may see any provider, depending on availability and patient preference.

Richard A. Patt, M.D.

Dr. Patt founded the Aurora Family Medicine Center in 1976 after completing his Family Medicine Residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. The practice has been serving the Aurora and Southeast Denver Metro area since then. He has continued his association with the University, teaching medical students, interns, and residents in the Family Medicine Department. He is interested in all aspects of Primary Care, including children, adults, and geriatrics. He also spends time doing clinical research in the practice setting. In addition, Dr. Patt maintains a special interest in smoking cessation, and has lectured many different doctor groups on the subject.

Dr. Sundland grew up in St. Louis and attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis for undergraduate school. He then earned a graduate degree from the University of Notre Dame before returning to St. Louis for medical school. He enjoys the great diversity of patients that he has seen over the years, the continuity of care and the medical relationships he has developed with our patients. He also finds it very rewarding working with the pediatric patients and watching them grow. He moved to Colorado from New Jersey many years ago to attend undergraduate school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He fell in love with the state and never left - except for the three years he attended Duke Medical School in North Carolina, to obtain his physician assistant degree. He and his wife have been married for over twenty five years and have two older children. They enjoy taking advantage of all the various recreational activities that Colorado has to offer. He is also an avid fiction reader in his spare time.
